No. You can drop it off as-is. We will remove, destroy, and properly recycle the drive.

What items can I recycle at RecycleIT?
Businesses and residents can drop off the following computer-related eWaste items for free: Desktop computers, laptops and laptop batteries, servers, network equipment, hard drives, RAM, computer peripherals, computer and network cables, power supplies, tablets, cell phones, flat panel monitors, video game consoles, credit card terminals, digital cameras, GPS devices. Pickup of these items from your location is also available as a paid service.

Items we do not accept: Televisions / TVs, CRT monitors, large printers, appliances, batteries not from computers, kitchen electronics, lamps/bulbs, smoke detectors, and stereo speakers.
Does RecycleIT accept computer monitors for recycling?
Yes. Flat panel computer monitors can be dropped off for free. We do not accept older CRT (tube) monitors.
Does RecycleIT accept business IT networking equipment and eWaste for recycling?
Yes. Routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and related IT equipment can be dropped off for free. We can also pick up the computers and/or equipment from your business as a paid service.
Does RecycleIT accept old servers and data center equipment for IT eWaste recycling?
Yes. Servers, racks, storage units, and UPS devices can be dropped off for free. We can also pick up old, unused equipment from your data center or business as a paid service.
Does RecycleIT accept computer cables and power adapters?
Yes. You can drop them off at our Nanuet location for free. If you need us to come to your business or home to collect a large quantity of these items, that is available as a paid pickup service.
Does RecycleIT accept cell phones and smartphones for recycling?
Yes. Phones from businesses and residents can be dropped off for free. Pickup of boxes of phones is a paid service.
Does RecycleIT accept tablets and iPads for recycling?
Yes. Tablets and iPads can be dropped off for free. Collection from your site is a paid service.

4. Data Security and Documentation

Does RecycleIT offer secure hard drive and SSD destruction with recycling?
Yes. When you drop off your computers and devices, we remove and physically destroy the drives. If you want us to come to you to collect the drives, we can do so as a paid service.
Can I get a Certificate of Destruction for my company’s computer recycling?
Yes. Drop-off is free. The certificate and any on site pickup are paid services.
Can I bring loose hard drives to be destroyed?
Yes. Bring them to the store and we will destroy them for free. On site collection of loose drives is a paid service.
